There aren’t many on the Far North Coast who have not heard Luke Vassella play – he’s widely known and loved throughout the district and beyond as an inspirational performer and an accomplished singer/songwriter.
Luke has released nine albums of his own material, receiving eight NCEIA Dolphin Awards along the way, including Male Vocal of the year. At the 2017 Australian Roots Music Awards, he received the ‘Karl Brodie Best Song’ trophy.
Luke has written many songs in support of a Gasfield Free Northern Rivers and won the ‘Australia’ category at the 2013 Australian Songwriter’s Association Awards with his protest song ‘The Mighty Dollar’.
In 2010 he also won the ‘Australia’ and ‘Best Live Performance’ categories with his song ‘Lismore Girl’. Luke has produced several jingles and music for short films in his home studio, including the soundtrack to the influential 2013 documentary ‘Undermining Australia: Coal Vs Communities’.
‘In a North Coast Town’ is Luke Vassella’s triumphant ninth album, celebrating a love of people and places in Far North Coast NSW. It’s twelve tracks were recorded live in halls surrounding Lismore during February and March 2016.
